Easyfairs’ sustainability work

As part of Easyfairs and Act for the Future, we are committed to the Net Zero Carbon Events pledge: to halve our greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 at the latest.

Easyfairs is committed to running our events in an environmentally and socially responsible manner by:

Reduce your carbon footprint

with reusable display stands

Our reusable stand solutions are designed to reduce material consumption, waste and transport.
Without compromising on function or design.

Up to 150X

lower carbon footprint compared with single-use stand solutions.

Reusable components

Our stands can be assembled, dismantled and reused at multiple events. This means that less new material is required.

Recyclable materials

We use materials that can be recycled. Materials that can no longer be reused are recycled.

Reduced transport volumes

At many events, exhibition stands are stored on site, which completely eliminates transport-related emissions. When transport is required, several stands are combined into a single delivery to reduce emissions per stand.

Our key initiatives:

Energy

The premises implements energy-saving measures by using only green electricity and reducing unnecessary energy consumption. Energy consumption is carefully controlled through the management of lighting, heating, ventilation, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC). In addition, the premises is fitted with LED lighting to save even more energy.

Travel & Accommodation

Easyfairs reduces travel-related emissions by selecting preferred accommodation partners based on sustainability criteria. The venue offers cycle parking and electric car chargers nearby. We encourage car-sharing to the event and recommend using public transport to further reduce our environmental impact.

Shipping & logistics

Easyfairs’ stand packages reduce transport emissions and waste, and we select our suppliers based on sustainability criteria. We incorporate these criteria into our contracts and base our choice of suppliers on their sustainability efforts in the transport sector.

Production & waste

We implement a strict waste management and waste reduction plan, and limit the use of plastic at our events. The waste generated is carefully sorted, and we use reusable table mats at our events. Furthermore, our Smart Badge technology enables a significant reduction in paper consumption for our exhibitors.

Food & Food Waste

We apply the principles of sustainable food supply at our catering outlets, reduce food waste and donate surplus food to charity. We encourage our suppliers to practise portion control to reduce waste, offer vegetarian and vegan options, and do not serve red meat in our lunch restaurants.

Social responsibility

We strive to be an inclusive team that embraces diversity and provides equal opportunities for all, whilst embedding sustainability at the heart of our event. Our event’s seminar programme focuses on sustainability topics, and we offer a platform for start-ups to showcase their groundbreaking innovations.

Exhibitors

Here are some practical tips on how to make your participation more sustainable.

Choose a reusable stand package from the organiser or design your own stand so that the structure can be reused several times, year after year. Work with your stand builder to make your stand as sustainable as possible! Avoid creating a single-use stand just for one event.

Create reusable signs (without any dates on them) made from recyclable materials and using eco-friendly ink where possible. Use LED lighting and other energy-efficient equipment for your stand, and don’t forget to switch it off at the end of the day. Try to avoid using carpets, and if you really need them, opt for reusable carpet tiles where possible.

If you use a standard carpet, make sure it is recyclable and that it will be recycled.

Where possible, choose public transport or carpool with your colleagues.

Choose a hotel within walking distance and/or adopt environmentally friendly practices.

Consolidate your shipments and, where possible, use transport and logistics companies that employ sustainable practices. Give preference to local suppliers to support the local economy and reduce transport. Give preference to suppliers that demonstrate environmental and social credentials.

Please bring your own reusable water bottle and use our water stations to help us reduce our use of single-use plastic.

If you are serving food at your stand, please choose locally produced and plant-based options where possible, and avoid using single-use plastic. Avoid food waste and order only the amount of food you need.

Take an active role in the various initiatives and discussions during the event that will support sustainable development within your sector.
